En camino con Cristo

“En la misa de este día se bendice y se impone la ceniza, hecha de los ramos de olivo o de otros árboles, bendecidos el año precedente” para la “conmemoración de la entrada del Señor en Jerusalén”.

Con la celebración litúrgica de este día, el primero del tiempo de Cuaresma, los hijos de la Iglesia nos ponemos a recorrer con Cristo Jesús el camino que lleva desde la esclavitud a la libertad, desde la tristeza a la alegría, desde el luto a la fiesta, desde la noche a la luz gloriosa de la Pascua.

Bendición e imposición de la ceniza:

El significado primero y principal que tiene para los fieles el rito de imposición de la ceniza lo desvelan las palabras de la bendición que el presbítero pronuncia sobre ella y que los fieles rubricamos con nuestro Amén.

En esa oración, se pide a Dios que gracia y bendición se derramen, no sobre la ceniza, sino sobre los fieles, “para que puedan llegar, con el corazón limpio, a la celebración del misterio pascual de su Hijo”. Con lo cual, el acento se pone en la purificación del corazón, en la conversión a Cristo, para que lleguemos a la comunión con él en su misterio pascual, es decir, en su descenso a nuestra muerte y en su ascensión a la vida de Dios.

En la oración que el Misal Romano propone como alternativa a esa bendición sobre los fieles, se pide que Dios bendiga “la ceniza que se va a imponer sobre nuestra cabeza”, ceniza que es memoria de la fragilidad de nuestra vida, memento de que “somos polvo y al polvo hemos de volver”. Y se pide también que a nosotros se nos conceda “el perdón de los pecados” y que alcancemos así, “a imagen de Cristo resucitado, la vida nueva del reino de Dios”.

El gesto de la imposición de la ceniza evoca nuestra condición, la que el Hijo de Dios asumió, al hacerse hombre, por el misterio de la encarnación.

Al recibir la ceniza sobre nuestra cabeza, los fieles abrazamos humildemente lo que somos y ofrecemos al Padre el homenaje de nuestra fe en él y de nuestra obediencia a su santa voluntad.

Liturgia de la palabra:

Limosna, oración y ayuno son prácticas piadosas que pertenecen al corazón de nuestra fe.

En la Sagrada Escritura, el nombre de limosna se da a la misericordia de Dios con los hombres, y también a la misericordia del hombre con sus semejantes, misericordia que se manifiesta en lo que se hace para remediar sus necesidades. La limosna del hombre imita la misericordia de Dios.

La oración del cristiano, oración de hijos al Padre del cielo, pone en el corazón del hombre el designio de Dios, el reino de Dios, la voluntad de Dios, el nombre de Dios, un mundo que pertenece a la intimidad de Dios y a lo más íntimo de nosotros mismos donde él habita.

El ayuno se practica en muchas religiones por motivo de ascesis, de purificación, de luto, de súplica…

Ayuno, oración y limosna le hablan a Dios de la humildad, la esperanza y el amor del hombre.

La verdad del ayuno, la oración y la limosna, como la verdad de la humildad, la esperanza y el amor, sólo se pueden hallar en “lo escondido”, en la propia intimidad, en el secreto del corazón; lo que el profeta expresó cuando dijo: “Ahora –oráculo del Señor- convertíos a mí de todo corazón, con ayuno, con llanto, con luto. Rasgad los corazones y no las vestiduras; convertíos al Señor vuestro Dios”.

Y cuando hoy comulgues, no olvides que la comunión con Cristo acontece antes en el corazón que en los labios, y que “dará fruto en sazón”, si día y noche guardas en lo escondido la memoria entrañable de tu Señor.
